Education Stimulus Funds allocated to School Districts

School districts across the country are now receiving the first half of their allocations from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).  The districts have been anxiously awaiting their Title I (funds for improving the performance of low-income students) and IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) funds as a means of supplementing their shrinking budgets.  According to the latest guidance documents from the Department of Education, districts are being encouraged to not only "save jobs" but to "improve student outcomes over the next two years and to advance reforms that will have even longer-term impact".

There are large variances amongst districts when the funding per student is analyzed.  Per student the top ten districts are:
